Politics

“Politics is the art of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable.

John Kenneth Galbraith (1908-2006) Canadian/American economist, diplomat

When you look at the current American political scene, it is very tempting simply to run and hide. And we still have almost a whole year to go! But with consideration, you most likely realize, as the French say, “plus ça change, plus c’est the même chose” Human life and politics have always been messy, unsavory, and crude. Somehow we have to muddle through, keep our ideals as high and as noble as possible, never lose hope, work for what we believe in — and vote!
And in the meantime, create as much peace, sanity, and mutual understanding as we can in the “worlds” we inhabit — small or large — take a deep breath, just be still, and in the moment.Just now.Recall the words of Julian of Norwich (1342-1416), that no matter what, “all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.”
