Shepherd
“Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.”
Rumi (1207-1273) Sufi mystic and poet
A few thoughts on “walking out of your house like a shepherd:”
-First of all, you would have to care — care about people, have some real investment in how they are, what they experience. Also, it would seem that you must walk out of a house that is a place of kindness and peace. Then…
-Like a lamp, be a spreader of light.
-Like a lifeboat, be ready to help rescue if you can.
-Like a ladder, be enabling of achieving a higher level.
-Recognize and acknowledge when someone has walked out of their house and shepherded you.
The next time you walk out of your house, be mindful.
And quietly watch for all “good shepherding” this week.
