April 6, 2016 – Ah, Music!
“Music is the mediator between the spiritual life and the sensual life.”
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) German composer
I think integration is what he’s talking about, when the inner life and the outer life are in sync with each other — or “who you see is who you are.” The great composer says that music can help with that.
This week, make time to listen to some favorite music — close your eyes and just listen, hopefully for an extended period of time.
Perhaps the 2nd movement of Beethoven’s “PianoConcerto#5,” or Schumann’s “Träumerei”, but choose whatever music you enjoy. Then be still and just listen!
Allow the music to elicit any feelings you’re holding…
…and possibly to knit together any tattered ends of the spirit and the senses.
